Apryl

Meet

Hi! My name is Apryl Amerson; I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker completing my hours to become licensed in the state of California. I have worked in child welfare for over a decade, partnering with children and families as they maneuver through life’s transitions. This experience has equipped me to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

My areas of focus are family relational issues, substance use disorder, anger management and life transitions using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and commitment to social justice guide my work with clients on their journey to developing coping skills that can be beneficial to their overall success.

As a therapist, I am warm and welcoming. I am interested in hearing clients share their experiences as I apply various modalities, such as narrative and cognitive behavioral therapy, during sessions.

I look forward to partnering with you on your therapeutic journey here at Nurturing Mind, Body, and Spirit.

Client Testimony

  • Apryl is absolutely incredible at her job. One thing that I appreciated about the first time we were paired to work together was how she wanted to make sure we were a good fit together so that I could get the best help in therapy. That, to me, created a strong foundation of teamwork from the start. Apryl listens attentively and checks in on our meetings about things we spoke about previously. She also communicates effectively and makes me feel like I’m being heard. I love how she gives me journaling prompts and other homework assignments so I’m implementing what we talk about in our sessions throughout the week. Something that stood out to me during my time with Apryl is how much of an advocate she is. When I was struggling with test-taking anxiety on my exams towards the end of my nursing journey, she informed me that, as my therapist, if I needed accommodations, she could help me get them. At first, I was hesitant to get it, but she was patient with me and was ready to help me get the accommodations when I decided I wanted it. That has helped me with being able to finish nursing school. On top of that, she has helped me with other non-pharmacological ways to work on my test-taking anxiety, which have also helped me—such as breathing techniques and affirmations to tell myself. Overall, I am so grateful that Apryl is my therapist, and I’ve already grown so much during my time with her. I’m looking forward to continuing to grow with her guidance.

  • I would just like to start and say that I adore working with Apryl. Her honesty and no-nonsense approach to our sessions genuinely helps me so much. In therapy, I always hope that the person I’m working with can call me out when I’m not showing up in the best way for myself, and Apryl does just that. She has a kind approach as well during this process, and I appreciate it so much. I knew that Apryl would be a great fit as my therapist from our first session, and she continues to show that in each session that we have. The tools she provides, the way she listens without judgment, the way she approaches each session with a “we can work on this” attitude is such a blessing. Apryl is truly amazing at what she does, and I am so thankful to have been partnered with her. If this is at all possible, please give her a raise. It’s a lot on a person unpacking others’ emotions and trauma, and she definitely deserves a raise for all she does.
