Monique
Meet
Hello! My name is Monique Reeves, and I am a Clinical Supervisor with Nurturing Mind, Body & Spirit. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California and have worked as a high school social worker since 2015. Before entering the field of social work, I worked in administrative and nonprofit settings serving adults with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries. My passion for working with children and adolescents began during my graduate school internships, where I realized how meaningful it is to support students by integrating mental health services within the school setting.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of providing counseling and crisis intervention services to adolescents while collaborating with families, educators, and community partners to promote student well-being. I have also enjoyed mentoring and supervising both bachelor’s- and master’s-level social work interns during their field placements, an experience that deepened my passion for developing the next generation of clinicians.
As a first-generation college graduate and single mother, my educational journey has been one of perseverance, resilience, and determination. While balancing full-time work and raising my daughter, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Human Development from California State University San Marcos before going on to earn my Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. I am currently completing my Doctor of Social Work at Tulane University, where my research focuses on the role of social connectedness in school settings as a protective factor for building resilience and reducing suicide risk among high school students.
As a Latina clinician, I am deeply committed to increasing access to mental health services for youth and families. I believe everyone deserves a safe, supportive space to heal, grow, explore their goals, and feel heard. This belief guides both my clinical work and my approach to supervision.
As a Clinical Supervisor, I strive to create a supportive, collaborative, and growth-oriented environment where supervisees feel safe to ask questions, embrace vulnerability, and develop confidence in their clinical skills. I believe every clinician brings unique strengths, experiences, and perspectives, and I enjoy helping supervisees identify and build upon those strengths while encouraging them to explore new areas of clinical growth. My supervision style is hands-on, reflective, and individualized, with an emphasis on developing clinical competence, ethical practice, professional identity, and self-awareness. One of my greatest joys is helping clinicians discover the areas of practice that inspire and energize them, so they can build meaningful, sustainable careers serving others.
Outside of work, I am busy with my daughters and enjoy reading, baking, gardening, and, whenever I can, unwinding with a good telenovela.
At the heart of my work is the belief that healing happens in relationships. Whether I am supporting students, families, or developing clinicians, I strive to create spaces where people feel connected, supported, challenged, and empowered to grow.
